Alexander Isak is arguably Newcastle United’s most prized asset - with Arsenal rumoured to be interested in the £150million goal machine

Theo Walcott has urged Arsenal to make a move for Newcastle United goal machine Alexander Isak.

A phenomenal campaign for the Magpies resulted in Isak bagging 25 goals across all competitions. Newcastle stumped up a club-record £63million for the Swede and reports suggest they would demand almost triple that before considering a sale.

While he still has four years left on his contract, Toon chiefs are understood to be keen on tying Isak down with a bumper new deal. The 24-year-old outlined his “love” for the club and city when recently grilled on international duty.

“I’m enjoying myself very, very much in Newcastle,” Isak told Fotbollskanalen. I just had the best season of my career. That should not be underestimated. I love everything really about the club, the fans, the city.

“I actually have no thoughts of a move or anything like that. I enjoy myself fantastically well and am very happy with my life.”

But that has done little to quash speculation about Isak’s future - with Arsenal continuing to be linked. The Gunners are chasing a striker as the final piece of the puzzle to land the Premier League title.

Speaking to The Sun, former Arsenal star Walcott called upon Arteta to sign Isak or Aston Villa bagsman Ollie Watkins. He said: “Arsenal did great, they competed throughout the whole season and learnt a lot from previous mistakes.

“I think what Mikel Arteta has done and the atmosphere at Arsenal is incredible. What we are missing is a striker, and to have that balance on the bench. I’d say that’s the one thing, maybe Mikel didn’t trust his bench as much.

“I’m looking at someone like an Alexander Isak or an Ollie Watkins who’s been established in the Premier League. We may look abroad but I’m a big believer in someone who is proven in the Premier League.”
