Newcastle United released their home shirt for the 2024-25 campaign on Friday

Anthony Gordon “loves” what Adidas have done with Newcastle United’s kits for next season - with a special mention for the away and third kits.

Hundreds of Toon fans queued outside the temporary club shop - directly opposite St James’ Park - when the home shirt was released on Friday. A highly-anticipated release was expected due to Newcastle reigniting their relationship with the German retail giant.

Adidas supplied the Magpies from 1995 to 2010 and nostalgic supporters could not wait to see their comeback design. The home shirt has been well-received, with the iconic Adidas stripes complement Newcastle’s own black-and-white trim.

But Gordon prefers the away and third shirts - expected to be released later this summer. A nod towards Newcastle West End’s claret and blue strip  - made famous the iconic 1995-96 - is expected to return.

NewcastleWorld also understand Adidas are set to reboot the 1999-00 kit - with the club crest from the mid-80s also making a return. Gordon, speaking to the club’s media channel, is a big fan.

“It’s really tight and grippy - I didn’t expect it to feel like this,” he said. “I thought it would be quite thick but I love it. It’s very retro. I think the fans are going to love it as well. It’s got that class vibe, throwing it back to the olden days.

“I love the colours, especially the away and third kit. Obviously, I knew the home was going to be black and white. They’ve been really creative with the away kits.

“I love what they’ve done with it. Newcastle is a classic club, very traditional with good values. I think these tie in well. It will be a good partnership.”
