The German retail giant enjoyed a 15-year partnership with the Magpies from 1995 to 2010. Nostalgic supporters queued in their droves ahead of Friday’s unveiling, with Adidas evoking memories of the “Entertainers” era, Sir Bobby Robson and Alan Shearer

Eddie Howe’s men will be hoping to create more memories while donning the famous three stripes. The multi-year deal is worth a reported £40million per season - bolstering Newcastle’s coffers as they aim to negate FFP/PSR restrictions.

Other lucrative sponsorships include Sela - worth around £25million per year. The Champions League revenue will also be accounted for in the coming three-year cycle, giving Newcastle further wiggle room to manoeuvre.

The Magpies’ most-anticipated kit release for a generation should also boost the coffers, with £5 from every sale also going towards the Newcastle United Foundation. Those in the boardroom have already bagged their shirt, with Staveley posting a photo captioned “my new summer wardrobe staple”, with No.7 printed on the back.

Callum Wilson might not be happy with Mehrdad Ghodoussi as he appears to be hunting his No.9 shirt. The minority shareholder also posted a picture with his latest black-and-white addition.

Fans were quick to thank the owners for bringing Adidas back, with a special mention to the pop-up shop outside of St James’ Park. One comment read: “The Club shop is unreal! Don't think you know how much the Adidas deal means to us.”
