Yankuba Minteh could move to another Premier League club this month with Newcastle United reluctantly set to cash in on the winger.

The 19-year-old joined the Magpies last summer in a £7million deal from Danish side Odense Boldklub. He was immediately loaned to Feyenoord and his 11 goals in 37 appearances has attracted interest from a number of reputable clubs.

The initial plan had been for Eddie Howe to take a closer look at Minteh in pre-season before making a decision on his future. However, pressures to comply with Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and in turn maximise their transfer budget means United are willing to sell for a quick profit.

There have been suggestions Minteh’s price tag is set at £40m but the likelihood is Newcastle will accept less. The player’s agent Bakary Bojang told Chronicle Live on Saturday that personal terms have been agreed with an unnamed club and now it is up to United to sanction the deal.

It’s understood the likes of Borussia Dortmund, AS Roma and Lyon have approached Minteh’s camp but according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Gambian favours a switch to Everton.

Posting on X - formerly known as Twitter - Romano said: “Yankuba Minteh, giving priority to Everton as his favorite destination with desire to play in the Premier League. Newcastle, informed of his priority to join Everton. Olympique Lyon are interested as they made contact for Minteh this weekend, as revealed yesterday.”

The news of Minteh’s expected exit hasn’t gone down well on Tyneside with many supporters excited by his potential following a productive campaign in the Netherlands. But PSR forces difficult decisions, and parting with Minteh could be one of those.

Minteh may not be the only piece of business Newcastle do with Everton this summer with talks surrounding Dominic Calvert-Lewin continuing.
