Bruno Guimaraes has issued a short message following Newcastle United’s draw with Brighton.

Bruno Guimaraes admits he was left “gutted” by Newcastle United’s 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Magpies fell behind in the 18th minute from Joel Veltman’s header before Sean Longstaff equalised in first-half stoppage time. Eddie Howe’s men huffed and puffed to find a winner but couldn’t find a breakthrough.

As the full-time blew at St James’ Park, Guimaraes dropped to the floor and remained seated. And despite the best efforts of Anthony Gordon, Kieran Trippier and coach Graeme Jones to console him, he remained unmoved.

During the lap of honour, Guimaraes, accompanied by his partner and two children, held back from his teammates. He was also among one of the first players to head down the tunnel.

With the Brazilian subjected to constant transfer speculation, his reaction has sparked a conversation on social media. But when posting a message after the game, it does appear Guimaraes was upset about the result, rather than hinting at anything to do with his future.

The 26-year-old said: “Last game home this season! I wanna thank you for the support through this season. I’m gutted about the result but there are still two more games to play and reach our goal 🖤🤍3️⃣9️⃣”

He later posted a photo of his family with the caption: “And in the end all that matters is your happiness!! My family ❤️ Glory to God for everything 🙏🏽 🙏🏽”

Newcastle remain in the driving seat to finish sixth but if they are to finish there then they’ll have to do it the hard way with away fixtures at Manchester United and Brentford next week.
