Runners of all abilities in the North East were able to test themselves on “super-flat, out-and-back course” along the picturesque Newcastle-Gateshead Quayside.

Chris Parr, the race director at RunThrough, has hailed the success of the two events, paying special tribute to the atmosphere created by both runners and spectators.

He said: “We are thrilled with the overwhelming success of the Quayside 5k and Junior 3k races.

“The vibrant atmosphere and spirited competition were a testament to the dedication of our participants and the enduring appeal of this event.”

The scenic route featured iconic landmarks such as the Tyne Bridge and the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, which provided an impressive backdrop for runners as they raced towards the finish line in Baltic Square.

RunThrough will be bringing another event to the North East on May 5 as it hosts the Newcastle-Gateshead Half Marathon and 10k.
