Newcastle United legends to make appearances at city centre Euro 2024 fan zone

A certain Peruvian midfielder will make an appearance in Newcastle this weekend as England kick off their group campaign.

NX in Newcastle has announced that Nobby Solano is the first special guest to be attending the Euro 2024 England Fanzone at the Westgate Road venue this month. 

Solano, an iconic figure in Newcastle United's history, who played a crucial role in the team during his tenure, will be the on stage pundit alongside The Magpie Channel’s Matty Renton when England plays Serbia on Sunday, June 16. And right after that, the much-loved ex-Toon striker Mick Quinn will join the party at NX against Denmark on Thursday, June 20.

All fanzone matches at NX will hear a rendition of the national anthem delivered by a series of in-house singers to kick proceedings off in style and, for a limited time only, there will be £1 tickets available online for the fanzone this Sunday against Serbia.

The venue are also promising the biggest screen in town for fans to enjoy cheering on Gareth Southgate’s England squad as they head into the tournament among the favourites to lift the Henri Delaunay Trophy in Berlin next month.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s game Solano said: “I might be Peruvian but I know how much football means to people in this part of the world.

“I’m proud to be back to my second home again and I’m excited for the challenge of manager of Blyth Spartans. But before that, England has the small matter of the Euros and I’m really looking forward to coming to NX on Sunday.

“I think England has a great chance of winning the tournament and I’m pleased to be part of the celebrations in Newcastle. Come on England!”

England’s group fixtures this summer are as follows:

Serbia vs England: Sunday, June 16 - 8pm

Denmark vs England: Thursday, June 20 - 5pm

England vs Slovenia: Tuesday, June 25 - 8pm
