Full list of Gateshead and Newcastle Quayside road closures this weekend for Gateshead road races

Sunday, May 5 marks one of the key Spring events in the North East running calendar with participants heading to the Gateshead International Stadium for the Gateshead 10k, half marathon and marathon.

This will be the first time a marathon is to be inlcuded as part of the day, meaning closures will last longer than previous years.

Although the race stays off most major roads on either side of the Tyne, some closures will be in place to make way for runners as they chase their own personal goals.

The following road closures are in addition to the regular Sunday closures for the weekly Quayside Market.

Which roads are closed on Newcastle and Gateshead Quaysides this Sunday for the 10k, half marathon and marathon?

Local Councils have confirmed the following roads will be closed for the event:

Gateshead Side - all from 6am until 3pm on raceday, Sunday, May 5:

• Centrelink - Autumn Drive To Pipewellgate
• Riverside Footway From Riverside Row To Redheugh Bridge
• Pipewellgate
• Rabbit Banks Road
• Riverside Footway From Redheugh Bridge To Pipewellgate Car Park
• Swing Bridge
• Bridge Street
• Hillgate
• South Shore Road
• Mill Road
• Albany Road From Quarryfield Road To South Shore Road
• Saltmeadows Road
• Deptford Road
• Hawks Road
• Tyne Main Road
• Neilson Road

Newcastle Side, all expected to be from 8:30am until 3pm:
